MESSAGE TO CHILDREN

Hi, This page is for you !

If you are aged between 8 and 13 (in School Years 4-8) and are looking for a brand new choir to join, then look no further.  Devon County Junior Choir (DCJC) is a new exciting choir which has just started in September 2007.

We've got an impressive programme of performances lined up, so to get ourselves ready for these, we need to get practising on Saturday mornings.

We aim to have a really enjoyable time with warm ups, rounds, unison songs, part singing ............... anything to do with anything vocal!  The music will be a wide variety of styles, taken from different cultures and you'll also get the opportunity to develop your singing technique and general musical skills.

You don't need any previous experience, just the ability to sing in tune and bucket loads of enthusiasm!

After about 2 weeks, there will be a voice test where you'll be given simple voice and ear exercises and then you'll sing a song – this could be a nursery rhyme, a verse of a hymn or a song from a musical.  You may find it easier to sing one of the songs we shall have worked on in the choir practices.  It really can be anything at all!

Our choir practices are lively, informative and fun but it is also a chance to make new friends while we are learning and working hard to achieve the very high standard worthy of the name of "County Choir."

If you're interested, you'll need to get Mum and Dad to download the application form, complete it and send to me.  You don't need to wait until the start of next term . . .
you can join at any time.

I'm looking forward to meeting you.

Rachel Smith
